New York – Park Avenue Armory
September 4–18, 2013
In 1997, Garry Kasparov, one of the greatest chess grandmasters in history, arrived in New York City for the match of his life. His opponent: Deep Blue, the IBM-engineered supercomputer designed to be the most powerful in the world. What began as a strategic move by IBM to raise its profile evolved into a historic confrontation between man and machine — Kasparov versus Deep Blue and its creator, Dr. Feng-hsiung Hsu.
Directed by Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Josie Rourke, this gripping new play by Academy Award nominee Matt Charman explored the psychological and philosophical tension behind the world-famous battle, staged in an intensely intimate environment that placed audiences at the heart of the action.
Commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival, Donmar Warehouse, and Park Avenue Armory.
Role: Mandy Dinkleman (Sports Commentator)
Performed in both the Manchester and New York productions.
